Again, a debian entry, I’m so in love with debian. This entry is about how I’ve made my KDE desktop in 1280×1024 resolution, with 75hz refresh rate. Hopefully this will help someone in need.

This is my machine’s specs.

  • Debian Unstable
  • Kernel 2.6.17-2-686
  • KDE 3.5.4
  • xserver-xorg 1:7.0.23
  • nvidia-glx 1.0.8774-3(for nvidia display card)
  • Monitor : Samsung Syncmaster 172x

Debian Nvidia Driver Mini How-To

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

My ATI Radeon 9800 burnt yesterday morning. The heat sync fan was not able to function properly so all the plastic parts above of the heat sync (fan, fan holder etc) were melted. Pretty sad incident, immediately I got myself a replacement card - Nvidia FX5500. Apparently I can’t make it without computer, even for a day.

This is it, a low end AGP display card until my next hardwares upgrade. Here I’m gonna write down the process I did in order to install Nvidia Driver on my debian box. Everything was done with Synaptic and a few command lines input.

WordPress Default 3-columns V1.1

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

Update!!There is a latest version here. Please don’t use this version anymore.

Hi guys, this is my first contribution to the WordPress community.

I’ve released WordPress Default 3-columns V1.1 theme today. This is a continued work from LiewCF, who originally modified this kubrick theme into 3 columns layout. In his version, he prepared a still image “kubrickheader.png” as the default header image, same color as the default kubrick released with Wordpress. The “Header Image and Color” function was left out in his release.

Site upgraded and tuning.

This site has been upgraded to WordPress 2.0.4 just now.

I was looking for a 3 columns theme and by chance downloaded a Kubrick 3 Columns Theme modified by LiewCF. It is definitely my cup of tea because I love kubrick theme so much.

However, Liew’s version does not have the function to change the Header Image color like what kubrick used to have. I love that feature so much and I knew I had to do something about it. Now here’s it, after some hacks I managed to plug functions.php and header-img.php(v1.6) into Liew’s 3 columns kubrick, and it works fine now.

I will need some time to tune this site this few days, posts will come back very soon.

I feel upset after reading this post from Gobala Krishnan. Yes, upset and provoked by the fact that we Malaysians are not well awared of the danger of the Internet and how cunning can people be if it’s about money.

The story is not new, another “I-Can-Build-You-Money-Making-Website” scam. Look at the complaint filed by a victim at complaints.com, you’ll find out the the scam was from a website storeonline.com. How on earth did people just believe to something like that and actually spent that much for websites.
