Thunderbird Extension: Remove Duplicate Messages
I’ve been a loyal Mozilla Thunderbird user. Mail, news and RSS are all in one place. First thing in the morning is checking Thunderbird. Recently a few blogs that I’ve been following are having this annoying issue. The RSS feeds are duplicated, Thunderbird fetches the feeds regardless of the message ID, so after a while, the duplicated messages can simply go over 10 entries per blog post. Deleting one by one is definitely not an ideal solution.
Again, after some google searches, I manged to dig out this nice extension for Thunderbird, Remove Duplicate Messages. Installing Thunderbird extension is a bit different than Firefox, the “Install Now” button will not work as error message “This extension is not compatible with Firefox” will pop up. What you need to do here is right click the link, and save the *.xpi file in your local drive. In Thunderbird, Tools -> Extensions -> Install, open the saved xpi file from there.
You can choose to manually locate any folder in Thunderbird and right click to remove duplicated messages.

Or you can set it to auto in Tools -> Extensions , highlight “Remove Duplicate Messages” and then click on the “options” button below.

Check the “Auto Delete” checkbox.
Yeah, problem solved. This is the magic of community supported softwares.
