WordPress Plugin: CompleteRSS, serving your RSS feed in full.

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

I used to serve my RSS feed in full text. In this way I personally think the readers will enjoy the information easier, without visiting the actual site for the full content. This is what RSS feed, and any other technology meant to be, to simplify things, to save time.

The problem is that ever since I’ve implemented the “more” tag for better front page sorting, my RSS feed is not able to serve in full text anymore. It inherits the “more” link in the feed, in where you set to trim the post. I’ve been looking for solution for this problem, and I’ve found one.

This is a WordPress plugin brought to you by Computer Guru. CompleteRSS is a plugin that allows you to serve your RSS feed in full HTML. Download page is here.

  4. Added feedburner subscription panel.
  5. Added Technorati Fave This Blog button.
  6. Wordpress 2.1 compatible.

Hello Ella, WordPress 2.1!

Monday, January 29th, 2007

As usual, I’ve upgraded as soon as I could to the latest version of WordPress. Now they have a code name for each release, this 2.1 release is “Ella”, named after jazz vocalist “Ella Fitzgerald”, not that I care though. There are 550 bugs fixed so far until this version, detailed listing can be found here.

There are tons of new features in this version. Following features grabbed my attention the most.

  • Autosave makes sure you never lose a post again. (Awesome Ajax feature without loading the page again like you manually save and continue editing.)
  • Our new tabbed editor allows you to switch between WYSIWYG and code editing instantly while writing a post.
  • New search engine privacy option allows you take you to indicate your blog shouldn’t ping or be indexed by search engines like Google.
  • You can set any “page” to be the front page of your site, and put the latest posts somewhere else, making it much easier to use WordPress as a content management system.

Upgraded to WordPress 2.0.6, added google Adsense.

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

New year, new things. Didn’t expect to have a wordpress upgrade so soon, but anyway this release is again “critical” as they claim. I always believe in software patching, so here it is, WordPress 2.0.6.

Also, notice the google adsense on the sidebar and every single post page, is it too big? I’m looking for some bucks just enough to cover my hosting cost every month, so if you find it annoying, you have my apology in advance.

I did not get the chance to wish you all, Happy 2007! All the best this year!

Update: It turned out that there’s a bug with version 2.0.6. Feedburner will not work if your server is running on apache mod_php. Workaround can be found here.

Wordpress Plugins: WP-Email, WP-PostViews, WP-PostRatings

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

I’ve been using these wonderful plugins from Lester Chan a.k.a GaMerZ. You can find his homepage at http://www.lesterchan.net/, a very brilliant guy from Singapore. He maintains a list of wordpress plugins, developed by himself. The list is at http://www.lesterchan.net/portfolio/programming.php

I’ve personally tested, and currently using WP-Email, WP-PostViews, and WP-PostRatings. Lester has packaged these plugins nicely in zip files, along with detailed instructions, I will not try to re-do something that he has properly done. Go try it yourself, and give your credits to him.
